Not sure I've EVER been to Newsvine before, probably haven't. But as the guy running an NBC affiliate Website in Bend, Oregon, www.ktvz.com, and having read today's news about MSNBC's acquisition, you'd better bet I'm trying to figure out the whole user-generated content/participatory journalism thing, especially since our new competitor in town is making high-falutin' promises in that regard.

So ... as with everything else, I have a lot to learn. And I look forward to it.

Greetings, Barney! I'm glad you're finally becoming active in the NV community. Your submissions are a joy to read, and you seem to be getting a good grasp of SOP. Now, how about that NV addiction article you mentioned this afternoon? **nudge-nudge** ;oD

go to http://leaveittobarney.wordpress.com to read it.

And go to www.ktvz.com to see it! (It's also on the 'Leave it to Barney' page, where it will remain top video til Friday, unlike out front;-)

Fantastique! Barney, if you'd prefer not to have your KTVZ.com video page hotlinked, please feel free to delete this comment. No harm, no foul. Namaste'

Now why in the world would I do that, fugitive? I know I'm skirting edge of COH, and will have friends seed wacky/interesting articles from our site, but one ABOUT Newsvine - well the CEO said I'm OK, so I guess I am;-)

Navigating the CoH can be interesting at times. As far as I can tell, it's acceptable to link from outside sources, but not from our own. This helps to curtail flagrant self-promotion abuse. The exception to this restriction seems to be the Recommendations section on each 'Viner's column page.

Well, in total transparency, KTVZ.COM is my own source, or as I said in my column link, my 'pride and joy.' But hey, it's the exception that proves the rule?;-) (I did a fairly flattering piece on NV, so... I figured I was PRETTY safe;-0)
